This concert will highlight some of the best American composers creating choral music today. Works by Morten Lauridsen, Eric Whitacre, and Z. Randall Stroope, among others, have already become favorites of today’s audiences. The chorus will be performing a wide range of styles, from energetic gospel tunes and spirituals, to harmonically rich settings of 19th and 20th century poetry. This is music that will have a profound impact on listeners.
Since 1999, PFC has delighted South Shore audiences with classical programming. The group of over 70 singers of all adult ages is dedicated to authentic choral singing. In addition to annual spring concerts, PFC generally presents a Christmas-themed concert in December, as well as a Messiah singalong, and summer concerts with pops-style programming.
